Trichocereus Knuthianus ~*

From Backebergs Trichocereus Lexicon, T. knuthianus Backbg. (1)
Bo. eventually tree-like, in age with a longer subterete trunk, to 3 m h.; branches to 10 cm 25, frosted, brilliant light bluish-green; Ri. c. 7, rounded, to 3cm br.; Rsp. 7; Csp. 1, to 10 cm lg., it and the Rsp. soon becoming concolorous whitish-grey although tipped yellowish at first; Ar. large, with much felt; Fl. large, white. —Peru (upper course of the Rio Maraflon).

Now this is a really different plant. Very cool. I love the look of this strange nobbly beast. The shadows it casts and the way the light plays with this plant make it an exceptional ornamental in my opinion. The 1st 2 pics are from out Fields Cactus Farm which I will be blogging about in the near future. It is truly an outstanding collection. I was lucky enough to recieve a cutting which at the time had 2 flowers that had yet to open, and unfortunatly the flowers aborted. Which is dissapointing, especially considering I'd been attacked viciously by the plant ( I dropped the cutting and was stupid enough to grab it as it fell and brace it with my leg...Ow.) and was consolated by the idea of flowers. Not too worry, sometimes when you cut a cacti, it wants some blood in return, fair enough. Now my Knuthianus cut is planted happily in the garden, hopefully growing some roots. I look forward to doing some breeding with this cacti in the future, should be able to make some interesting funky looking hybrids. Anyways, here's some pics. Enjoy :)
